AMSKIER ANNOUNCES THE JUDGES FOR HOMETOWN CREATIVE HEARTS – YOUTH CONTEST FOR ART, PHOTOGRAPHY AND WRITING

Hawley, PA,  September 13, 2013 – AMSkier Insurance announces the Judges for the Hometown Creative HeARTS – a contest for Hawley, Honesdale and surrounding area youths to express creatively what they love most about their hometown.

Judges for Hometown Creative HeARTS are:
Jerry DeCrotie  -Since 1999 Jerry has been the owner and operator of Green Street Design Studios a freelance art and design service based in Honesdale Pa. As a Commercial designer, illustrator and Cartoonist Jerry’s artwork has been created for national and international companies and publishers such as Hearst Publications, Hal Leonard, Maid Rite Steak Company, Lucasfilm (via West End Games) and many, many others. Locally, one of Jerry’s most prominent works is the logo created for The Greater Honesdale Partnership and the logo for The Wayne Library System, and his mascots are the primary branding for at least four local businesses. As a cartoonist, Jerry is the creator of the long running newspaper comics “Trial Mix” for Connections Magazine, “…where the heart is” for The Weekly Almanac and “Buddahhead The Dragon” for The Weekender Magazine. Jerry is also currently the Art Director for The Quality Group, an e-learning company that produces process improvement business e-Learning for a range of Fortune 500 level companies, nationally and internationally.

Juan H. Espino – has been a Wayne county resident since 1988. Originally from Mexico, he is a prolific artist with an intuitive design sense and a passion for his subject matter. He is the owner and curator of The Looking Glass Art Gallery located in the Hawley Silk Mill.

Jeanne Arnold – is co-owner of K9 Bedbug Detection Services, a writer and mother of one who loves to spend her free time playing with her family. Mrs. Arnold has run writer’s conferences, and facilitated an adult writer’s workshop for seven years. Co-founder of the WCPA Homeschool group, Mrs. Arnold plans events and encourages children to strive to be the best they can be and understand that with work and application, they can succeed.

Jeff Firmstone-  is a Honesdale native and resides in Dyberry Township. He is a graduate of Honesdale High School, BS University of Scranton, MS Wilkes University.  Jeff is the Business Manager/Transportation Director for Wayne Highlands School District, a Director of the Wayne County Fair and Past President of the Honesdale Area Jaycees.

The contest encourages are youths to compete in three age groups: 6-8, 9-11, 12-15, in three formats – Art, Photography and Writing. Each winner for each age and format will receive $25. Second and Third place winners will receive a Certificate of Excellence. Submissions must be dropped off at AMSkier, 209 Main Street in Hawley, September 3rd through September 30th between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday along with a submission form.
